ZYX: Experience the Award-Winning Phono Cartridges

The name "ZYX" was derived from the three analog elements of sound—Time (Z), Amplitude (Y), and Frequency (X). All ZYX cartridges are designed with an original real-sound power generation system that cancels time-axis distortion using several patented technologies. These cartridges also incorporate the latest advancements such as micro-ridge stylus, boron cantilever, and carbon cantilever options.

ZYX cartridges have received multiple "Cartridge of the Year" awards from various hi-fi magazines and are rated as "Class-A" by the prestigious magazine Stereophile (USA). The ZYX R-100T model has also been chosen as the reference cartridge for the legendary "Teragaki style" record player.

Mr. Hisayoshi Nakatsuka is the President and Chief Engineer of ZYX—or perhaps it’s more fitting to say that he is first and foremost the Chief Engineer, then the President. Born in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, Mr. Nakatsuka has had a deep connection with audio equipment from a very young age.

After graduating from university, he joined the development department of Trio (Kenwood), where he developed the world’s first optical cartridge. He later moved to Ortofon in Denmark, where he developed the signature MC-20 model. In 1976, he joined Namiki Precision Jewel Company, managing the OEM cartridge business for several manufacturers. In 1986, he founded ZYX.

Over his distinguished career, Mr. Nakatsuka’s work has led to the approval of 15 design patents. His extensive knowledge and experience have been fully invested in the ZYX product range.
