Since our founding in 1962, we have been pushing the boundaries of audio technology and striving for increasingly pure sound, a sound that can bring people together. Yet, even after six decades of research and innovation, we felt we could take our research in analog audio to the next level. With the NARUKAMI series we therefore offer a premium and groundbreaking audio experience, which we combine with the meticulous Japanese craftsmanship that characterizes Audio-Technica.

Taking its name from the Japanese god of thunder, the NARUKAMI series is characterized by high-quality audio products designed for their emotional impact. When assessing sound quality, our engineers rely on their refined auditory discrimination, not a sterile set of technical specifications. In addition, the premium materials, such as the precious KUROGAKI wood, create a bond between listener and nature.

KUROGAKI is a type of wood from the persimmon tree, the grain structure of which is characterized by black, ink-like patterns. The origin of these characteristic black patterns is still unknown. The drying process of KUROGAKI wood is also quite complicated and requires extensive know-how and experience, built up over many generations. This gives the wood a mystical status in Japan. This aura of mystery, together with the Zen Buddhist-style patterns, has ensured that KUROGAKI wood has been highly regarded by Japanese nobles and scholars for centuries and has played an important role in Japanese culture.

The ATH-AWKG's KUROGAKI wood earcups have unique physical properties that contribute to exceptional sound quality. In addition, the hand-applied lacquer layer emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood grain, which only becomes more beautiful with age.

The headphones feature exclusive 53mm drivers with high-efficiency German Permendur magnet circuitry for exceptionally accurate audio reproduction with an expansive sound field. Each driver features a lightweight and durable titanium rim and a 6N-OFC (high-purity, oxygen-free copper) voice coil, allowing the diaphragm to move with exceptional precision and optimally transmit any signal. In addition, the exclusive DADS (Double Air Damping System) structure divides the enclosure into two separate acoustic spaces, for fast and accurate bass response.

The headphone bracket is made of a light and very stiff magnesium alloy. In addition, the headband is folded at an angle for an optimal fit and an excellent auricle seal. Comfort is further increased by the soft ear cushions and lambskin headband. A special extra is the interchangeable pair of ZMF Universe Hybrid ear cushions that provide users with a unique alternative listening experience.

The headphones have A2DC (Audio Designed Detachable Coaxial) connectors, for a secure connection using the two supplied detachable 3m cables. One cable has a gold-plated 6.3mm stereo plug for use with standard audio equipment and the other cable has a 4 -pin balanced mail XLR connector, for use with the latest high-fidelity equipment, providing improved channel separation and a better audio experience.

This product comes with a beautiful storage case, decorated with KUROGAKI wood, which perfectly matches the headphones.
