The musicians are excellent experts in their field: On the one hand, the legendary saxophonist Volker Schlott, who became famous in the Berlin jazz scene in GDR times between the 70s and 80s. On the other, the multi-faceted pianist Bene Apperdanier, who, as musical director of formats such as "Star Search" and "Deutschland sucht den Superstar," brings a huge musical perspective to the table. Ame Jansens rocks with his wild combination of technical brilliance and improvised musical abandon. Heiko Jung, a true diamond of the German music industry, uses his experience in jazz, funk and soul to bring the ensemble together as drummer. And if Heiko is the diamond, Markus Runzheimer is definitely the bomb. Quiet and unassuming until he takes up the bass, because then truly explosive beats are on display. With all this outstanding talent, Smith and her companions manage to be professional and, in terms of the "live band" concept, create a sound that sounds amazingly experienced and, more importantly, like a true love of art.
Jocelyn Smith: "With this LP we want to put all the focus on the band. All the songs have that distinct, unmistakable "live band" sound. It's all about having fun while playing and I think this LP conveys that feeling very well. It's hard work and yet it's always wonderful to jam with these guys. Each musician brings their own unique musical touch. We just fit together really well... "
This recording is a direct-to-disc recording from Studio 1 at Emil Berliner Studios. Direct-to-disc recordings are the result of intensive preparation and rehearsal time by the artists involved, as well as the sound engineers. The recording is completely analog and is cut directly into a lacquer foil, which is then formed into a pressing matrix in a galvanic process. Each pressed record is thus an original print of this recording.
