Finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen has become known as an interesting and versatile performer, equally as a soloist and chamber musician. His repertoire includes the classical piano literature from Bach to the avant-garde. In recent years, he has performed all of Beethoven's piano sonatas in several concert cycles.
He chose the repertoire for his first direct-to-disc recording from several points of view: "I was eager to include these compositions, which are very close to me, in this new, exciting project. At the same time, I had the desire to put together a program that would bring back memories of the 'golden era' of the record."
This recording is a direct-to-disc recording from the master hall of Emil Berliner Studios. Direct-to-disc recordings are the result of intensive preparation and rehearsal time by the artists involved, as well as the sound engineers. The recording is completely analog and is cut directly into a lacquer foil, which is then formed into a pressing matrix in a galvanic process. Each pressed record is therefore an original copy of that recording. 180 gram vinyl in hand-numbered cover.
